Nuits Sonores, held annually in Lyon since 2003, is one of Europe’s leading electronic and independent music festivals, transforming the city into a vast urban stage of concerts, DJ sets, art, and cultural events. The only mandatory asset was the existing logo, but otherwise the brief was completely open. We created a custom generative tool that translated rhythm into form, producing particle-based typography and design elements. Letters and shapes behaved like fragments of music, vibrating, scattering, and recombining in constant motion. The system extended across monumental signage, posters, digital screens, and stage visuals. Built on a stark black-and-white foundation, the identity was charged with neon green, which festivalgoers embraced in outfits, glowsticks, make-up, and even hair-dye, turning it into a cultural marker of participation. The color later extended into ambient and laser lighting, reinforcing its presence throughout the live experience.
