Working closely with artist Brett Reif we designed the catalogue for his “Downpoor” exhibition. We created a custom typographic system for both the book cover and display text that references the tiling motif that he uses throughout this series of artworks.
“Downpoor” highlights Reif’s interest in household materials and textures, such as bathroom tile, wallpaper and other household fixtures. “Downpoor” enlivens these home surfaces and reflects the anxieties and concerns of its inhabitants. Much of the imagery of “Downpoor” incorporates themes of overflow, flooding and decay as influenced by the artists connection with New Orleans and the long term impact of hurricane Katrina.
